Shipmate Tony Mello passed away on December 29, 2006 at age 85. He would have turned 86 on February 15, 2007.

Tony fought a long courageous battle against cancer. He died surrounded by family and friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he resided most of his life in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He married in 1953 and had one daughter in June 1955.

Tony will be missed by all for his sense of humor and laughter.
